The “new” iPad is out. To be fair, I haven’t “witnessed” it in person yet but I am certain it looks quite nice. The display specs for the new Retina display are amazing. The problem for me is…well, it’s all kind of forgettable..the name, the iOS with it, the device and the launch. The Apple TV was boring too. Don’t get me wrong..it’s all really good stuff and Apple is still best in class. But this still feels more like a refresh..nothing really new. I don’t know what else to …

I have been writing here that I am working towards the possibility of moving to Android for my phone. A key driver of this has been the (then) great pricing of Virgin Mobile. On the Low end it was $25 for 300 mins and Unlimited Data. Now Virgin Mobile has been steadily morphing into “every other mobile provider” by both raising pricing ($35 instead of $25) and now throttling data if you exceed 2.5GB. This is just a short blast to plug the Klipsch S41 earbuds. I have had the Klipsch S4′s(no microphone) for awhile now and have loved the sound. I admit it…I love most things Apple. It’s not that I am blind…but most things Apple just work really well. Enter the Apple TV. I have watched this “hobby” as Steve Jobs calls it, sit there year after year being “almost great”. The box has always been hobbled for some reason…almost like Apple didn’t really want it to work too well. It has always been hacked…and the hacks always greatly improved the Apple TV. The Apple TV Dev team doesn’t seem to pay attention to what the hackers are doing …

The good news this week is that Hulu Plus has lowered their prices to $7.99 a month from $9.99. That is good but may not be cheap enough to draw in the volume they need. I have to say I like Hulu Plus. The streaming quality is ALMOST as good as Netflix. The downside…still there is a content and a DEVICE war. For instance, I can watch the latest Burn Notice for free on my computer web browser…but as a Hulu Plus customer I can’t watch it on my iPad….WHA! …
